RLWC2021 appoints UK Anti-Doping as official anti-doping contractor
Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) has today announced the appointment of UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) as their official anti-doping contractor to provide testing of athletes both in and out of competition.
The appointment of UKAD reinforces the work RLWC2021 are planning in terms of delivering an online, interactive education module to ensure all participants – players, support staff and tournament personnel – have the knowledge and information they need with regards to anti-doping.
UKAD will deliver a comprehensive anti-doping programme across all tournaments at the RLWC2021 that will protect players rights to clean competition and maintains public confidence in the tournament.
Dean Hardman, RLWC2021 Tournament Director, said:
“Our tournament is proud to partner with UKAD, who undoubtedly have the expertise and reputation to help us deliver a clean tournament.
“It is important we provide a platform for our male, female and wheelchair athletes to compete fairly and therefore partnering with a leading organisation such as UKAD is an important step to ensuring we have the right training, processes and procedures in place to deliver a clean and credible tournament."
UKAD Chief Executive, Jane Rumble, commented:
“We are delighted to be playing a key role in the highly anticipated Rugby League World Cup. We want to be able to give the public and all those competing confidence in the event and what's happening on the pitch by delivering the highest standards of anti-doping processes.
“The Rugby League World Cup is going to be an incredible sporting event and we are proud to be bringing our anti-doping expertise to it.â€
